Capt. Sammy's soccer space : Sunday Oliseh Speaks On Why He Resigned From Being Coach Of The Super Eagles Team:

Speaking from his base in Belgium on Monday, Oliseh disclosed that he decided to quit instead of been sacked as his employers, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) were already planning to replace him.
His words:

" I was actually preparing for my trip to London to meet with some of the players when the information got to me that the NFF were already talking to coaches that would replace me."
So I opted to resign instead of waiting to be booted out.
For me, leaving the post is honourable than being booted out.
I wish the new coaches all the best in their new assignment.

Prior to his resignation, Oliseh had spent barely eight months on the job.

Diamond's space on politics and more...: Nnamdi Kanu : averting another war

It's been over three months since incarceration of the embattled radio biafra director, Nnamdi Kanu. One big story making news today is the statement alledgedly made by Nnamdi Kanu, that he rather die in prison than allow Ohanaeze Ndigbo claim victory for his release. What can be deduced from this statement, is it that the igbo nation is already divided between the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB)  and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). What ever this may imply, I can't say, but all I see is an impending catastrophe, except of course we trace our steps and do what is right, and in time, as goes the saying" a stitch in time saves nine.

Sincerely, am shocked to the bone seeing how the Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB issue is being handled by the federal Government, from the massacre of the peaceful protesters at Aba and Onitsha, to the delay of justice and denial of bail for the embattled radio Biafra director. During 2009,the now allied-Isis group "Boko Haram" didn't employ militancy in their quest, no! They were just peaceful idealist with a personal ideology, but as a result of the failed judicial system and the extra-judicial killing of their leader, they disappeared, regrouped and came back as the dreaded sect.  I can see another sect springing up soon, we already hear of vessels being hijacked by some militants, but this is just a tip of the iceberg.

The federal Government of Nigeria has in no small way interfered in the ruling of the ace Radio Biafra director. Keeping him in detention wont stop him or make the igbos refrain from actualizing their quest. Justice is served better when hot, the federal Government must remember that if any harm comes to Nnamdi Kanu, then there will be wanton destruction of lives and property across the country, and this may even be hijacked by some blood thirsty individuals to destabilize the country..

One fact I love about my country is that we do the right thing at the wrong time. If the founder of boko haram,  was called for a dialogue with the Government, I doubt if the group would go into militancy, but instead, he was killed in cold blood, he was denied justice, his right to fair hearing was abused. And now, I laugh every day when I hear the president say "we will negotiate with credible leaders of the sect if we find any". Well its too late to negotiate now, is we refused to nip it in its bud. Do you not think that same thing will happen should any harm come to the IPOB director? I will suggest the Government come to terms and issue a referendum so the people will decide their faith, you will be shocked, majority of the Ibo may stick to one Nigeria. Instead of the wanton killings, incarceration of IPOB members, i believe dialogue should be put forward, after all they always tell us every night during the NTA network news that nothing grows with turmoil in place. So let the aggrieved parties come together, and settle their differences.

At the time of writing this report, I still stick to one Nigeria, because I can't  imagine applying for visa before I can buy Mama Nkechi Fufu,  buying Suya from mallan Musa.

Yanky's Space on Yanky's world: Cultist attack and kill a young man in Ikot Ansa, Calabar, Nigeria

It was an awful and sorry sight yesterday at about 10pm when some unsuspecting cultists invaded a bar in my host community (ikot ansa, calabar), butchered the bar owner, a young and vibrant youth of the said community. The community has now been thrown into fiasco as citizens in this district are scared of a looming reaction from the rival cult group. #let's preach peace and say NO to cultism and other social vices. Above is the photo of the murdered young man.
May his soul RIP. Amen

Steaming Hot Photos: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil- Brazilian carnival Queens and participants thrill tourist at the annual Rio de Janeiro Carnival Samba parade, which takes place every year in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Brazilian Carnival is the annual festival that almost didn’t happen this year. Hitches, aside, the carnival still lived up to its phenomenal brand name.

Huffpost describes the carnival thus, “The mesmerising kaleidoscope of glittering costumes, opulent floats and sleek shimmering dancers saw tens of thousands of people at the Rio Sambadrome to cheer on their favourite samba schools and then letting their hair down at the parties that followed thereafter.”

Take a lot at the beauties and awesome display of colours at the festival. (Warning: Nudity in some photos)

The samba Parade in Rio de Janeiro is something everybody should experience at least once in their lives. The event is broadcast live to several countries. Watching on TV is comfortable but not any close to the fun that is being there. Definitely mingle with the crowds and watch the Brazilians and Cariocas (the people of Rio). For the best and full blown experience, you can even march with a samba school

RukkySuave's Fashion Space featuring: trending fashion, fashion Icons, fashion tips for men, women and children

Focus: Edet

This Maritime diva is fondly called Miss Glossyglisten by her friends and she has proven to us that being a cadet isn't an excuse not to b fashionable.

For her first look: She nailed this look with her choice of colours and she managed to look chicky and fashionable on this outfit. But will you agree with me that a pair of high heels would have done justice to this look? Nevertheless she pulled the look.

For the second look: She managed to keep it as simple as possible but chicky. For a ripped Jean that is not plane it was wise of her to chose a mild and plane top to go with the look.

Tips: When wearing a crop top, on either a Jean or skirt avoid belts. To avoid colour riot, I advise 3 colour combinations or 4 at most but they most be carefully chosen and the colours must compliment each other.

Rate my look corner: How would you rate Edet's look on a scale of 0-10 ?

Meet Amos E. Isaac as he tell his story of the great Igala people

Growing up was really fun, trying to fit into the society where you have to fight to learn some other people's language was one of the hardest things to do. Most times your friends will put you into trouble when they have to lie to you concerning the meaning of something in their language and when you go out there to speak that same language people will start looking at you as if your from another planet. My name is Amos Ekele Isaac, I am from Kogi state, Nigeria and I stay in Akwa ibom state where I have leaved for about 18yrs. I am studying Marine Engineering currently in Maritime Academy Of Nigeria Oron, I'm a native of Ajaka ND, I speak Igala as my language, and this my Story ;

Igala is an ethnic group in Nigeria. Igala practice a number of different religions, including African traditional Religion ( ATR) , Christianity, and Islam.
The home of the Igala people is situated east of the river Niger and Benue confluence and astride the Niger in Lokoja , Kogi state of Nigeria with its headquarters in Idah[seat of the Attah]. The area is approximately between latitude 6°30 and 8°40 north and longitude 6°30 and 7°40 east and covers an area of about 13,665 square kilometers (Oguagha P.A 1981) The Igala population is estimated at two million, they can also be found in Delta, Anambra and Edo States of Nigeria. The Igala language is closely related to the Yoruba and Itsekiri languages.
In Igala tradition, infants from some parts of the kingdom, like Ankpa receive three deep horizontal cuts on each side of the face, slightly above the corners of their mouths, as a way of identifying each other. However, this practice is becoming less common.
The Igalas are ruled by a figure called the "Attah". The word Attah means 'Father' and the full title of the ruler is 'Attah Igala', meaning, the Father of Igalas (the Igala word for King is Onu). Although "Attah" means "father"', female rulership is recognized and Igala has had female rulers in the past (Boston 1968). Among the most revered Attahs of the Igala kingdom are Attah Ayegba Oma Idoko and Atta Ameh Oboni. According to oral tradition, Attah Ayegba Oma Idoko offered his most beloved daughter, Inikpi to ensure that the Igalas win a war of liberation from the Jukuns' dominance. Attah Ameh Oboni is known to be very brave and resolute. He is revered for his stiff resistance of the British and his struggles to uphold some ancient traditions of the Igalas. When he got wind of a plan to depose and exile him by the British, he committed suicide by hanging himself to forestall the plan, he is regarded by most Igalas as the last real Attah Igala.

FPS Launch Bonanza-  Glo- 22449 99110 60820

Origin

The traditional Igala society is largely agrarian, although fishing is also a mainstay of the people especially the Igalas of the riverine Idah area.
Boston (1968) believes that the central geographical location of the Igala people has exposed them to a wide variety of linguistic as well as cultural influences from other ethnic groups in the country. Notable among these are the Igbira, the Bini, the Igbo, the Hausa, the Idoma and the Yoruba ethnic groups. However, the most significant relationship, by far, is that between the Igala and the Yoruba peoples .
Igala and Yoruba have important historical and cultural relationships. The languages of the two ethnic groups bear such a close resemblance that researchers such as Forde (1951) and Westermann and Bryan (1952) regarded Igala as a dialect of Yoruba.
Akinkugbe (1976,1978) is of the opinion that based on evidence, Igala is neither a dialect of Yoruba nor a language resulting from the fusion of Yoruba and Idoma as claimed by Silverstein, but rather Igala shares a “common ancestor” with Yoruba. In her words, “... this common ancestor was neither Yoruba nor Igala but what we have labeled here as Proto-Yoruba-Itsekiri–Igala (PYIG). The evidence suggest further that presumably, Igala separated from the group before the split of Yoruba into the present day Yoruba dialects considering the extent of linguistic divergence found between Igala on one hand, and the rest of Yoruba on the other” (1978: 32) Akinkugbe cites lexicostatistic evidence as well as evidence of sound shifts and lexical innovations as support or corroboration of this claim.
Other comparative works aimed at investigating the language status of Igala (directly and indirectly) are Omamor (1967) and Williamson (1973). In fact, Williamson is the originator of the label ‘Yoruboid’ for the group of languages comprising Yoruba, Itsekiri and Igala for the purpose of distinguishing “between Yoruba as a language on the one hand, and Yoruba, Itsekiri and Igala as a genetic group on the other”. (Akinkugbe 1976:1) Akinkugbe refers to the proto- language of the group as Proto-Yoruboid in 1976 and Proto-Yoruba-Itsekiri-Igala (PYIG) in 1978
Contemporary historians believe that the Igala most likely shared a proto-Kwa ancestry with the modern Igbo and Yoruba people as well as most ethnic groups of Nigeria today. Thus, the ethnic family would include not only the prior two, but groups like the Idoma, and the Nupe to the north.

Attah

The new Attah Igala is HRM Idakwo Michael Ameh Oboni II. [1] He ascended the throne of his fore fathers in February, 2013, after the demise of Attah Aliyu Ocheje Obaje. [2]
Among the Igala ethnic group of Nigeria, They are ruled by a figure called the "Attah". The word Attah means 'Father' and the full title of the ruler is 'Attah Igala', meaning, the Father of Igalas (the Igala word for King is Onu).

Capt. Sammy's soccer space: Wenger - We were not dangerous enough

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was frustrated that his side came away empty handed from their match against Manchester United despite dominating possession.

The Gunners had 61% of the ball at Old Trafford but ended up losing 3-2, a result that puts a dent in their title ambitions. They are now five points behind Barclays Premier League leaders Leicester City after winning only two of their last seven league matches.

"We had a lot of the ball and a lot of possession," Wenger said. "We favoured their game plan because we conceded two quick goals and at 2-0 down it is difficult. You have to take a gamble. I think the biggest regret was we had so much of the ball but we conceded three goals. It is difficult to win away from home after that.

"On the set pieces I expected us to do more from the number of free kicks we had around their box. From the middle of the park we were not dangerous enough."

Wenger did have words of praise for 18-year-old Marcus Rashford, who continued his incredible start to his Old Trafford senior career with two first-half goals.

"The player who was surprising for me talent-wise was Rashford because of the timing of his movement and his intelligence," he added.

To watch Wenger's press conference, click on the video above.

Arsenal are next in action on Wednesday night when they host Swansea City
